Town Manager Mike Puro

Town Manager

Mike Puro began his duties as Town Manager on May 19, 2008. Prior to coming to Shipshewana, Mike served as Goshen Redevelopment Director. He also served as the Indiana Toll Road General Manager from 1997 to 2006 and as Clerk-Treasurer and Mayor of Goshen from 1984 to 1997. Mike is a 1971 graduate of Purdue University in business and a 1982 graduate of Indiana University at South Bend with a masters in business.
The Clerk-Treasurer serves as the chief fiscal officer for the town of Shipshewana.

Clerk-Treasurer Ruth Ann Downey

Ruth Ann Downey was elected to the position of Clerk-Treasurer in 1998. She serves as the Chief Fiscal Officer for the town.
The Director of Special Projects is responsible for various economic development projects for the Town of Shipshewana.

Norm Kauffmann is responsible for various economic development projects for the Town of Shipshewana. Two current projects include the Visitor’s Center and the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail.
The Billing Clerk is responsible for issuing all water, sewer and storm water bills for the municipality.

Joan Schweisthal has served as Billing Clerk since 1993. She is responsible for issuing all water, sewer and storm water bills for the municipality.
New Town Receptionist Jill Reyenga

Receptionist

Jill Reyenga began her duties as receptionist for the Town of Shipshewana in November of 2006 and works in Town Hall.

Special Advisors to Town Council

 

Town Attorney

Kurt Bachman, attorney from the law firm of Beers Mallers Backs & Salin, serves as the town legal advisor. He attends all town council meetings, storm water meetings, and redevelopment commission meetings and advises the town on all legal matters.

Town Engineer

Andy Dodzik, Dodzik Engineering, serves at the town engineer. He provides all the engineering work on all the town civil engineering projects and reviews all street, water, sewer and storm water proposals from developers.

Financial Advisor

Greg Guerrettaz, Financial Solutions Group, serves as the financial advisor to the town. He assists in the development of the annual budget and the 5-year fiscal plan and advises on the town on all major fiscal decisions.
